Supreme Court Justice Claims Dr. Rajan Mahtani Victim Of Political Manipulations In His Testimony

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is undoubtedly one of the most ethical and honest businessmen in Zambia. He has been working in Zambia for the past 30 years and during this period; he has successfully built numerous companies. Some of his top companies include Finance Bank Zambia, Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments. He is also known for his charitable and philanthropic activities. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is also among the most targeted businessmen. This can be attributed to his fierce nature and refusal to participate in any unethical and illegal activity. As such, there are numerous parties, individuals and businesses who are always trying to disrepute his name and businesses for personal gains.

Justice Mumba Malila is a noted justice from Supreme Court of Zambia. He recently gave a testimony in which he revealed the rampant corruption and unethical practices within Zambia. While his testimony gave many revelations, one of the major revelations was associated with Dr. Rajan Mahtani and the case of 2012. In this case, the final judgement was given against Dr. Rajan Mahtani. However, according to the testimony by the justice the decision making was influenced with external forces. As per the testimony, the case was motivated with several political undertones and was against the interest of the public policies. The testimony also revealed that despite several requests, the case was not made ‘null and void’. Justice Mumba Malila was the attorney general during that period and he also wrote a letter confirming the motivated decision making of the tribunal.

The testimony from Justice Mumba Malila revealed clearly that as a result of few unethical and illegal politicians and businessmen, the entire Zambian legal system is suffering. These unethical and corrupt politicians have gained power by misusing their position and honest businessmen like Dr. Rajan Mahtani are paying the price. It is high time for the Zambian government to take appropriate actions against these culprits and repeat offenders.
