New Testimony From Supreme Court Justice Mumba Malila Reveals Corruption In Zambia

Over the past few years, Zambia has observed numerous ups and downs it terms of its economic and social growth. The national government is continuously trying to improve the living standards of the Zambian citizens by improving the social life and building public infrastructure. Similarly, businesses and industries support the economic growth as well as provide employment opportunities for the citizens. However, there are certain group of individuals and companies whose only motive is to gain profits at the expense of the country’s growth and development. Unfortunately, the number of politicians and businesses coming in the latter half of this category has increased significantly in the past few years which can be easily seen with increased corruption and unethical activities in Zambia.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani

It is a no surprise that innocent and honest businessmen like Dr. Rajan Mahtani suffer enormously due to these corrupt practices. The testimony from Supreme Court Justice Mumba Malila is a prime example of this. The testimony was released before the court and in this testimony, several revelations were made. One of the revelations was related to Dr. Rajan Mahtani and the case of 2012. In this testimony, Justice Mumba Malila stated that the case of 2012 was against the interests of the public policies and was motivated with several political undertones. He also stated that he made several requests to the tribunal to make the case null and void as it was irrelevant. Even after that, the final judgement was given against Dr. Mahtani claims, though majority of the evidences and facts stated otherwise. It was clear that the decision making was influenced by external forces. These external forces comprised of corrupt yet powerful politicians and businessmen with vested interest.

The testimony is a clear indication and corruption and illegal practices will no longer be tolerated and more and more number of individuals needs to stand up for eradicating corruption from the nation.
