New Revelation From SC Judge Clears Dr. Mahtani’s Name In False Prosecution

As per Supreme Court Judge Mumba Malila, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is has been a perennial victim of various political undertones. A recent statement was made by the Judge from the Zambian Supreme Court. Judge Malila recently testified for a case wherein Mr. Mutembo petitioned Zambian Constitutional Court for nullifying the Tribunal’s decision of removing him from the office of DPP (Director of Public Prosecution) in the year 2016.

Among the various in which Judge Malila testified in the petition, the most significant was related to Dr. Rajan Mahtani. He is a noted industrialist and businessman in Zambia with more than 30 years of experience. He is the owner of numerous successful business ventures in Zambia. Some of these ventures include Mahtani Group of Companies, Finsbury Investment and Finance Bank Zambia. He is currently fighting for the legal takeover of the company Portland Cement Zambia. Even after submitting numerous documents and critical evidence before the judge, the final judgment was given against his claim.

In his testimony, the Supreme Court judge stating the Dr. Rajan Mahtani was wrongly prosecuted in the 2012 proceedings, and this prosecution was motivated with political reasons. The SC judge also stated that the prosecution was against public policies and its interest due to the unethical nation of the prosecution. Furthermore, the testimony from the SC judge also included request towards discontinuation of the prosecution considering the public policies and its interests.

The evidence of a Supreme Court judge stepping out and revealing the unjustified prosecution of an ethical and honest businessman is a positive movement towards the increase in political and government transparency within the nation. At the same time, this revelation clearly indicates the years of difficulty and disruption faced by honest businessmen like Dr. Rajan Mahtani to ensure smooth business growth. Nevertheless, the case has been reopened and with this testimony, it can be hoped that the actual culprits will be brought to justice.
