As Per Latest Testimony By SC Judge, Dr. Mahtani Victim Of Political Manipulations

The latest news report regarding the testimony of a Supreme Court Judge in Zambia is both surprising and disappointing. Judge Mumba Malila, honorary judge of the Supreme Court of Zambia, recently gave a testimony in which he shared detailed regarding misdirected judgments and the various difficulties these judgments caused to certain people. In one of his testimonies, the Supreme Court Judge stated one of the cases in 2012 involving Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. Dr. Mahtani is among the top businessmen in Zambia with several successful business ventures such as Mahtani Group of Companies, Finsbury Investments and Finance Bank Zambia. He is also noted for his charitable activities and philanthropic works and has established a name for himself. Despite these, Dr. Mahtani is often a target of negative reputation and false accusations. These are from those individuals or associations who are either jealous of him or failed to entice him to involve in illegal activities.

Dr Rajan Mahtani

According to the Supreme Court Judge and his testimony, a similar case happened with Dr. Rajan Mahtani in the 2012 case. According to the testimony, the case was influenced by several political undertones and judgment was misdirected due to unethical political motivations. One of the more interesting facts as per the testimony is that a letter was written to the DPP (Director of Public Prosecution) in the year 2012. In his letter, Judge Malila stated that the judgment given against Dr. Mahtani was motivated by political undertones and therefore was against the interests of the public policies. A request was placed to make the judgment null and void.

However, as it came to be known that no such actions were taken by the higher parties. It can be understood that due to the greed of few politically powerful people, the entire government and law making bodies of Zambia come into scrutiny every now and then. It is therefore, time for the government and the system to take actions against these unethical political motivations.
